About Jimmy Kachulis
Trained
in Music Education and Music Theory at Hunter College, CUNY and Ethnomusicology
and Composition at Tufts University, he has persued a number of careers
in music and education. Initially, he taught all grades in the NYC public
school system, creating curricula for every course he taught. His second
career was as a freelance songwriter/composer/arranger in the recording
business, where he worked with some of the most well known artists in
the business. Next, he began teaching at world renowned Berklee College
of Music, where he is currently a Full Professor. He has been a founding
faculty member of the Songwriting, World Music/Culture, and berkleemusic.com
areas.
Since then, he has persued a number of additional careers: creating
songs for Emmy Award winning TV shows, authoring The Songwriter’s
Workshop Series for Berklee Press, The Songwriter’s Workshop
online courses for berkleemusic.com,
conducting clinics in songwriting and lyricwriting internationally,
developing courses in world music/culture, researching many world music
genres, and composing/orchestrating concert music for internationally
known classical artists.
Music Industry Pro
An accomplished songwriter, composer, arranger and conductor, he has worked with great performers like Motown artist Martha Reeves, Warner Brothers artists Stuff, and Columbia/Electra artist Eric Gale. His songs have been featured internationally on Emmy Award winning TV shows The Sopranos, JAG, One Life to Live, the Young and the Restless, and Touched By An Angel, among others. His classical compositions have been performed by renowned artists nationally and internationally.
